About the Organizations

Boerne Chamber of Commerce

Boerne Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. Principally, those charitable purposes center on education and support of the greater Boerne, Texas area business community. This mission will be fulfilled by, among other things, the following activities:

• To offer educational programs that provide the displaced worker with sufficient training for a new job in a different field or provide enhanced skills training to the worker to meet the increasingly competitive needs of the employer.

• To assist individuals who are interested in starting up a new business and to advise and train them in the necessary basic steps such as creating a business plan and financial lending.

• To work with individuals to focus on internal and external communications skills, procedures and tools to help their businesses grow and prosper.

Cibolo Nature Center & Farm

With a mission to conserve natural resources through education and stewardship, the Cibolo Nature Center & Farm has been a leader in conservation and environmental education for over 32 years. This is accomplished through a variety of nature-based education programs, events and outreach on the 160-acre Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm. These two campuses welcome over 100,000 visitors and provide a site for a myriad of education, community and conservation programs for all ages throughout the year.

The Cibolo Nature Center & Farm Children’s Education Programs serve over 20,000 students a year from Boerne and the San Antonio area, many of whom are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our children’s programs include Outdoor Classroom Field Trips, Cibolo Nature School, Camps, Family Festivals, Deep Roots, Explorers programs, and various outreach programs. Our conservation education philosophy stems from a belief that in order to care for and protect natural resources, we must first love it--and we must connect to a sense of place. We strive to give children and families a diverse set of ways to interact with the remarkable beauty and science of nature. As the culture of childhood increasingly moves indoors, we are experiencing a higher demand by schools and parents for a nature-based education. To address this growing demand and to maximize the potential of our two campuses, we are enhancing and expanding education offerings with the construction of the Cibolo Nature School & Learning Village at Herff Farm, set to be completed in early 2021.

In addition to children’s education programs, the Cibolo Nature Center & Farm also hosts a Farmer’s Market, Mooondance Concert Series, Thirst for Nature and family Festivals where the community can get active in nature and relax outside. Adult programs include workshops and volunteer opportunities through our Citizen Science program and Wildlife Field Research. Conservation work includes our Cibolo Corridor Conservation Initiative, Monarch Restoration Project and the Great Blue Heron Rookery.
